Privacy notice
Last updated: 20 September 2026 | Version: 1.0
This notice explains how LivFaRT (Livestock Farming and Rural Technology) collects and uses personal data through our website livfart.com, our web application app.livfart.com, and our Android field app LivFaRT Field (com.livfart.app). It is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the guidance of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), including the General Application and Implementation Directive (GAID) 2025.
1. Who we are
LivFaRT (Livestock Farming and Rural Technology) is a livestock-health technology company based in Misau, Bauchi State, Nigeria.
- Founder: Dr. Muhammad Babangida Usman
- Privacy contact / Data Protection Officer: Dr. Muhammad Babangida Usman — hello@livfart.com
2. Who this notice is for
| You are... | Example |
|---|---|
| A farmer | A livestock keeper registered by a field worker during a vaccination or treatment campaign |
| A user | Staff, field workers, supervisors, managers and viewers who log in to LivFaRT |
| A client contact | People at NGOs, government livestock departments, development programmes and veterinary businesses who buy or manage LivFaRT |
| A website visitor | Anyone browsing livfart.com |
3. Our role: controller or processor
LivFaRT is software used by client Organisations. Each Organisation runs its own programmes and decides why and how farmer data is collected.
- For farmer data collected in a client's programme, the client Organisation is the data controller and LivFaRT is its data processor. We only use that data on the client's documented instructions. For questions or requests about your data, you may contact the Organisation that registered you, or contact us and we will pass your request on.
- For LivFaRT's own programmes, for user accounts, client contacts and website visitors, LivFaRT is the data controller.
4. What data we collect

- Location: state, LGA, ward and GPS coordinates

- Services received: vaccinations, treatments, drugs given, amounts paid

- Consent record: how consent was given, wording version, language, date and time
- SMS confirmation codes (we store these only as secure one-way hashes, never in readable form)
About users
- Name, email, phone number, role and Organisation

- GPS location and time of records you submit
- Audit log of actions you take in the system (for example, creating, editing or approving records)
About client contacts and website visitors
- Name, job title, organisation, email, phone and messages you send us
- Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited (and cookies — see section 11)
5. Why we use it and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (NDPA) |
|---|---|
| Registering farmers and recording livestock services | Consent of the farmer, captured in the field app before registration (read aloud in Hausa or English) |
| Confirming a service happened (SMS code, supervisor check, call-back) | Consent; and the controller's legitimate interest in preventing fraud |
| Providing the LivFaRT service to client Organisations and their users | Contract with the client Organisation |
| Programme reports and statistics for clients and funders | Consent / contract; statistics are shared in aggregate or anonymised form where possible |
| Security, audit logs, fraud and misuse detection | Legitimate interest in keeping the system and data safe and accurate |
| Meeting legal and regulatory duties | Legal obligation |
| Answering enquiries and managing client relationships | Legitimate interest / steps before entering a contract |
We do not sell personal data. We do not use farmer data for advertising.
6. Who we share data with
- The client Organisation that runs the programme, and people it authorises (for example, its supervisors and managers).
- Funders or government partners of a programme, only as the client Organisation instructs, and in aggregate or anonymised form unless the farmer has been told otherwise.
- Our service providers (sub-processors), who help us run LivFaRT under written contracts:
| Provider | What they do | Farmer data? |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, login and file storage (region: Europe) | Yes |
| Termii | SMS delivery (Nigeria) | Phone number and message only |
| Netlify / Cloudflare | Web hosting for livfart.com and app.livfart.com | No stored farmer data |
| GitHub | Source code and app builds | No |
| Google (Play) | Android app distribution | No |
- Authorities, if required by law or a valid court order.
7. Transfers outside Nigeria
Some providers may store or process data outside Nigeria (for example, the database region Europe). Where this happens we rely on a lawful transfer basis under the NDPA, such as an adequacy decision, appropriate safeguards in contracts, or another basis allowed by the NDPC. Contact us for details.
8. How we protect data
Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest; each Organisation's data is separated by database row-level security; role-based access; two-step login for admins and supervisors; automatic sign-out after inactivity; full audit log; private photo storage with short-lived links; daily backups. See our Security Summary for more detail.
9. How long we keep data
We keep farmer data for as long as the client contract lasts plus 7 years, or for the period the client Organisation instructs, whichever the client sets. After that we delete or anonymise it. We may keep anonymised statistics (for example, the number of animals vaccinated in a ward) that cannot identify anyone. User audit logs are kept for 7 years for security and accountability.
10. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- Access — ask what data we hold about you and get a copy
- Correction — ask us to fix wrong or incomplete data
- Deletion — ask us to erase your data. For farmers, we do this by anonymising your record: your name, phone number, GPS location and photos are erased; anonymous counts (such as number of animals vaccinated) are kept for programme statistics
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing already done)
- Data portability where it applies
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) — ndpc.gov.ng
How to make a request: farmers can ask the field worker, the programme contact on their card or SMS, or contact us at hello@livfart.com / hello@livfart.com. We may need to confirm who you are. We will respond within the time the law requires and in any case within 30 days. Where a client Organisation is the controller, we will pass your request to them and help them answer it.
11. Cookies (website and web app)
We use only the cookies needed to keep you logged in and the site secure. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
12. Children
LivFaRT is not intended for children. Farmers registered are household heads. Field workers should not register a person under 18 as household head unless a client programme has a specific, lawful process for doing so.
13. Changes to this notice
We will post updates on livfart.com and change the "Last updated" date. For important changes we will tell clients and users directly.
